SoundFonts are Z-Maestro's method of rendering instrument and drum tracks. Invented by Creative Labs, SoundFonts contain audio samples of one or more instruments (or patches). Usually, these samples are obtained from recordings of real instruments, allowing the resulting Z-Maestro project to sound very high-quality, almost as if an actual live orchestra was performing.
Z-Maestro comes with a small built-in SoundFont. However, it is relatively low quality. It is recommended that you find nicer SoundFonts for use in your projects.
Hundreds of free SoundFonts can be found on the internet, and many more for a small price. Below is a listing of free SoundFont sites.
